postheadericon 1st Show. Collection of 6

Over the comming days I will post some pictures and updates up of my 1st show this season.

Collection of 6 result: 1st

Not the best of pictures as I forgot to re-adjust the display after the judges had messed about with it, parsnip slipped down a bit and leek had moved forward. Trust me they were much more even before everyone touched them.

What potatoes did you show?
Your display looks excellent.

Thank you.

On this board I used NVS Amour, I also showed a set of 5 Sherine, 5 Kestrel, and 3 more Amour on the other tray. (All from you)

I have had the same problems as a few people this year with some scab, but all the potatoes I showed had non and were very nice.

Had some massive Kestrel this year, Amour was very shy to show anything but what it did show were just great, but sometimes only 1 in a bag.

I am pleased that the quality was good for you.
i have field grown Amour and Sherine which would ba showable.
The minitubers do perform better in the field with commercial fertilizer.
So far this year NVS Amour has taken at least 3 first prize tickets that I know of.

From all the potatoes I grew I was most impressed with Amour. I would need to grow more bags tho which is the only down side. Non of my amour got scab either.

I have choosen a few potatoes to keep back and see if I can store them for next year..Unlikely in my house, but will see what happens.

Keep your seed spuds in bone dry compost in the black polypots and it will act like a mini clamp for storing them.
Put about 3" of peat on the bottom and try to get a couple of inches around the side and pop them in before putting a couple of inches on top. I know people that use the white fish boxes to do the same job.

Cheers, I will try this method for sure and hopefully I will have some nice stock next year.

I'm hoping I can grow them on in my new allotment but mainly in the ground. Always nice to grow something no one else has on the plot.

Fingers crossed they store ok.

If they don't store I know where you can get some more!!!

I will probably order some anyway Iain along with everything else from you.

I just wan't to experiment and see if I can get results from my own kept spuds. Also have promised if they keep to hand a few out to people who wanted them at the show to test for next season.

Thank you Robb for looking in and commenting =).
